On the June 5 RAW, Beth Phoenix defeated Victoria but suffered a setback. During the match, she suffered a fractured mandible that required oral surgery. Beth had a titanium plate successfully inserted in her jaw the next day, but she will be unable to wrestle for two months.
Phoenix made her first appearance on May 8. After Mickie James defeated Maria, the Women’s Champion attacked an injured Trish Stratus. The then-unnamed Beth ran in from the crowd, attacking James. The startled Mickie escaped, but yelled “what are you doing here?” at Beth as she backed up the ramp.
On the May 22 RAW, Trish Stratus officially introduced Beth Phoenix as the newest RAW Diva. Beth then welcomed herself to RAW by once again attacking Mickie James from behind, chasing the Women’s Champion through the crowd and out of the arena. The following week, Beth made her in-ring debut, teaming with Torrie Wilson to defeat Candice & Victoria as James looked on from outside the ring.
