Trish Stratus made her return from injury on the June 26 RAW, but was unable to defeat Mickie James for the Women's Championship. After the match, however, Melina and Nitro came out, with Melina telling Trish that she had taken over the throne of most dominant Diva in WWE. It erupted into a fight, and when Nitro and Melina looked like they would double-team Trish, Carlito xame out to run them off. Later, Trish thanked Carlito, then whispered something into his ear regarding the "Spit or Swallow" question on his shirt.
To help her combat Mickie, Trish brought in some outside help. Stratus introduced "her new friend" Beth Phoenix as the newest RAW Diva on May 22. Phoenix attacked Women's Champion Mickie James and sent her running through the crowd. Trish was also in Beth's corner for her in-ring debut on May 29; as both Trish and Mickie looked on, Beth & Torrie Wilson defeated Candice & Victoria. The next week, Trish was by Beth's side again as she defeated Victoria in singles competition.
